Iran’s acting Foreign Minister, Ali Bagheri Kani, met with Syrian President Bashir Assad earlier today in Damascus. According to a statement released on Telegram, Bagheri Kani and Assad discussed the occupation of Syria by US forces in SDF-controlled areas of northeastern Syria and Israel’s occupation of the Golan Heights.
Assad stated to Bagheri Kani in the meeting that “Resistance against the occupation in all its forms will remain a basic principle and a strategic choice as it is the correct approach in confronting enemies.” Assad went on to say, “the Zionist entity becomes more bloody against the Palestinian people as their defeat becomes more apparent.”
Bagheri Kani stressed the importance of a solid relationship between Iran and Syria, stating that their alliance is formed on solid principles and shared interests. Before meeting with Bashir Assad, Bagheri Kani met with Palestinian resistance groups in Syria and held a press conference with Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad. Begheri Kani took to the podium and stated, “My trip carries the message that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as in the past, stands by the resistance against the Zionists. Iran and Syria are proud to have cooperated for more than four decades, and they know that the cause of instability in the region is the occupation and the Zionist regime.”
Begheri Kani traveled to Syria to meet with Assad just hours after meeting with officials in Lebanon, marking his first trip outside of Iran since taking office. In Lebanon, Begheri Kani met with the Chief of the Caretaker Government, Najib Makati, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nabih Berri. He wrapped up his trip to Lebanon by hosting a press conference with Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib.
At the press conference, Begheri Kani said, “At various historical stages and in light of all developments, there has always been continuous consultation and cooperation between officials in the Islamic Republic of Iran and officials in the Lebanese Republic … The Islamic Republic of Iran has always aimed to support stability, safety, security, and progress in Lebanon and has spared no effort.”
According to an official press release from Hezbollah’s military media outlet, before leaving Lebanon for Syria, Begheri Kani was hosted by Hezbollah’s Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah. The two parties discussed the “latest political and security developments in the region, especially on the Gaza and Lebanon fronts, as well as the proposed solutions and existing possibilities regarding the evolution of events.”

وزير الخارجية الإيراني يلتقي المسؤولين في لبنان وسوريا
التقى القائم بأعمال وزير الخارجية الإيراني علي باقري كاني بالرئيس السوري بشار الأسد في وقت سابق اليوم في دمشق. وبحسب بيان صدر على تلغرام، ناقش باقري كاني والأسد احتلال القوات الأمريكية لسوريا في المناطق التي تسيطر عليها قوات سوريا الديمقراطية في شمال شرق سوريا واحتلال إسرائيل لمرتفعات الجولان.
وأوضح الأسد لباقري كاني في اللقاء أن “المقاومة ضد الاحتلال بكافة أشكاله ستبقى مبدأ أساسيا وخيارا استراتيجيا باعتبارها النهج الصحيح في مواجهة الأعداء”. ومضى الأسد يقول “الكيان الصهيوني يصبح أكثر دموية تجاه الشعب الفلسطيني كلما أصبحت هزيمته أكثر وضوحا”.
وشدد باقري كاني على أهمية العلاقة المتينة بين إيران وسوريا، مشيراً إلى أن تحالفهما يرتكز على مبادئ راسخة ومصالح مشتركة. وقبل لقائه بشار الأسد التقى باقري كاني بفصائل المقاومة الفلسطينية في سوريا وعقد مؤتمرا صحفيا مع وزير الخارجية السوري فيصل مقداد. وصعد بيغيري كاني إلى المنصة وقال: “إن رحلتي تحمل رسالة مفادها أن الجمهورية الإسلامية الإيرانية، كما في الماضي، تقف إلى جانب المقاومة ضد الصهاينة. وتفخر إيران وسوريا بالتعاون بينهما منذ أكثر من أربعة عقود، و وهم يعلمون أن سبب عدم الاستقرار في المنطقة هو الاحتلال والنظام الصهيوني”.

وسافر بيغيري كاني إلى سوريا للقاء الأسد بعد ساعات فقط من لقائه مع مسؤولين في لبنان، وهي أول رحلة له خارج إيران منذ توليه منصبه. وفي لبنان التقى بيقري كاني رئيس حكومة تصريف الأعمال نجيب مكاتي ورئيس مجلس النواب نبيه بري. واختتم زيارته إلى لبنان باستضافة مؤتمر صحفي مع وزير الخارجية اللبناني عبد الله بو حبيب.
وقال بيقري كاني في المؤتمر الصحفي: “في مختلف المراحل التاريخية وفي ضوء كل التطورات، كان هناك دائما تشاور وتعاون مستمر بين المسؤولين في الجمهورية الإسلامية الإيرانية والمسؤولين في الجمهورية اللبنانية… إن الجمهورية الإسلامية الإيرانية كانت هدفت دائما إلى دعم الاستقرار والأمان والأمان والتقدم في لبنان ولم تدخر جهدا.
وبحسب بيان صحفي رسمي صادر عن وسائل الإعلام العسكرية لحزب الله، قبل مغادرته لبنان إلى سوريا، استضاف الأمين العام لحزب الله حسن نصر الله بيقري كاني. وبحث الطرفان “آخر التطورات السياسية والأمنية في المنطقة، خاصة على جبهتي غزة ولبنان، فضلا عن الحلول المقترحة والاحتمالات القائمة فيما يتعلق بتطور الأحداث”.
