Laylatul Qadar , the night of decree, I’ll say is a night for lovers,  when believers of last in the Abrahamic faith around the world , stay awake whole night for this magnificent promise , seeking the love and company of their creator in their own way ,some choose to offer prayers, others recite Quran, and everyone is in a rhythm and symphony of their own. Laylatul Qadr takes place during the final 10 days of Ramadan. Since humans are forgetful and lack patience, so the creator has eased it for us , providing us a hint to seek it in the odd days . The Quran says,  ليلة القدر خير من الف شهر  , “The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months” , because the Quran was sent down during those beautiful nights.

If you know the tale of “Layla and Majnoon”  an anonymous folk story told by Arabs. The oldest and the most holistic version of the story was written in Persian by Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi , like the west has Romeo and juliet,  the east has the tale of Leila and Mujnoon, although many claim that they were real characters , a Mujnoon,  used to walk in the streets of streets of Arabic peninsula , finding ways to be with his lover . “مجنون” in Arabic means , crazy in love , what is more beautiful to seek the love of the creator of heaven and earth ,believers turn into a مجنون, when the pangs of love do not let us fall asleep , and we stay awake till dawn asking the beloved to accept our prayers and make us among those whom he loves .

Like a restless lover we keep saying  “اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ كَرِيمٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي” , meaning “O Allah, indeed You are Pardoning, [Generous,] You love to forgive, so forgive me ” . During these 10 days , huge number of muslims go for Itikaf , seclusion,  to be focused,  to talk solely to their beloved , they sit in solitude,  spending days and nights in the remembrance of their creator,  like a lover , leaving the fatigues of world behind. It’s a beautiful time indeed, the whole atmosphere is sacred, mosques are full of life , Quran is recited with devotion, charity is given more than any time of the year .Life is short,  if you are still breathing,  do not lose the opportunity of seeking this splendid night .
