Enough already with the fighting. Why are we fighting each other anyway? There’s so much work to do. We need to do it together not fighting each other. The media keeps the fighting going with their own insane sense of righteous indignation. Are tweets now a headline? It’s not doing the media or the people any good. Instead of actually being jounalists, the media is regurgitating whatever he they tweet.
When it all comes down to it we all want the same things our constitution sets out for us. Life, Liberty, the pursuit of happiness and the protections built into in. We have had other polarizing presidents before. We will again. Why is this so different? We wanted change we got it, just not the change we were hoping for.
If anything it proves we don’t trust each other. We know the difference between right and wrong. Yet instead of an actual exchange of ideas, insults keep being slung. Why are we devolving ? Why is fear the motivating factor in how we treat one another? Shouldn’t we be trying to span the divide instead of digging trenches?
What happened to “We the people? We need to rise up and join together, to save our species. This is about HUMAN RIGHTS. The right’s of all people, in this country and the rest of the world, to live in peace and harmony. Instead of coming together like we did worldwide on “#Caturday”. Twitter is a cesspool of in-fighting.
We have journalists, political activists, pretty much anyone bucking the system, being arrested and thrown in jails, none of them belong in. Timothy Leary told us to “Turn On, Tune In, Drop out.” Sit ins and marches no matter how big, will be “pooh-poohed” on by ‘alterative facts’. The media is just that the media. No one cares about responsible reporting anymore. Anything for the headline, which now consists of tweets.
I keep being told that all of this is within his right. Think about that for a second…
Was this really what the founding fathers we trying to establish in this new republic?
Is this even why the pilgrims even came? They were escaping religious persecution, no?
Have we lost our way? Is out government now everything the founding fathers tried to stop ever happening again?
Don’t get me wrong, not everything our founding father’s did was right. Even they knew that. Is what we are watching happen now really what the spirit or the intent of the declaration of independence was for?
It’s Alice falling down the rabbits hole. Everyday there’s another protest. There’s another frightening proclamation. Our pleas to those in charge ignored. They are supposed to represent us, yet seem to afraid to stand up, and ire the wrath.
In the past week alone there hasn’t been a day that has one by without some kind of protest. There weren’t this many civil rights marches on D.C in one year , let alone one week.
“There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.”
Even that is being threatened.
It’s complete and utter bombardment from every angle, causing sensory overload, that’s keeping us divided, even things that should matter to everyone, like life , liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
I’ve been writing this for days, I need to just stop. No matter hard I try to make sense of the world around me I just can’t. I can’t seem to find my way here either. I know it’s there, I just can’t seem to silence the chaos long enough to grasp it.
“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door.” – Emma Lazarus
