The following is an interview between independent Yemeni journalist Mohammed Al Bokhety and Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, a member of Ansar Allah’s Political Bureau.

This is a common criticism of Ansar Allah, and it is because of the poor translation of our flag into English and that the slogans on our flag (Death To America and A Curse Upon The Jews) are somehow proof that Ansar Allah is an enemy of the average American. Do you think the American People, or that Jews in general, are the enemy?

We call the slogan “The Scream in the Face of the Arrogant,” and the slogan is not a call to kill American citizens or Jews. Rather, it is a means of mobilizing the Muslim community and making it aware of the danger of the policy of the Zionist gang ruling in Washington and London, which has caused many tragedies in our region and the world.

Society in Yemen is aware of the goal of the slogan, so American citizens who visit Yemen know this fact because they are welcome and move around the areas under our control freely and safely.

It must also be noted that this slogan was created under exceptional circumstances after George W. Bush stated, “Whoever is not with us is against us,” in 2002. The ensuing Iraq war that Bush described as the Crusades, in which the American army committed many crimes, crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq, whether by direct bombing or by stirring up strife among Muslims, what followed? Bush pushed the former Yemeni president to launch six wars against us with American support.

Then, the aggression against Yemen in 2015. Cursing means acquittal to the aggressor Jews who deprived the Palestinian people of the right to live in their land and their supporters in Washington and London, not the anti-Zionist Jews.

Overthrowing the ruling Zionist gang in Washington and London is a moral duty and the responsibility of everyone, including the American people and the British people. When this goal is achieved, and the right of the Palestinian people to live in their land is recognized, we will stop repeating this slogan.

Much of Yemen’s instability and, indeed, the cause of the Houthi’s formation was to fight the corrupt government of Ali Abdullah Saleh, who was seen as a Western puppet. Isn’t it true that the tragedy of Yemen began with America’s conspiracy to kill former Yemeni President Ibrahim al-Hamdi at the hands of the Saudi regime in 1978 and replace him with Ali Saleh, who was a Mossad agent?

President Al-Hamdi has achieved great economic and service progress within a short period of no more than three years. To this day, he is considered the most beloved historical figure for Yemenis, but Ali Saleh destroyed everything.

What is the view of the Yemeni government on China and Russia? Are these countries fighting on the same side as Yemen? Or does your government see them as not aligned?

Our decisions are completely independent, and we move from purely moral standpoints without calculating or fearing consequences. We are not afraid of a large number of enemies nor afraid of a lack of friends.

Therefore, we did not support, for example, the Russian military operation in Ukraine despite of our good relationship with Russia and our need for its support in the Security Council. The Ukrainian government led by Zelensky supported the American aggression against Yemen in 2015, and despite Ukraine being a permanent supporter of Israel, we are moving from purely moral principles and distinguishing between the fallen Ukrainian people.

We consider Ukraine to be a victim of the Zionist gang’s conspiracy to settle scores with Russia. Regarding America’s claims that Iran supports us, America aims to mislead global public opinion and divert its awareness from taking action to stop genocide crimes and distract it with a marginal issue. The issue is not about where you get your weapons but how you will commit to the legality of using them.
